Have You Noticed More Girls Playing With Your Gadget Recently?

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Gizmodo:

A new report from Solutions Research Group hints that the male-dominated era of technology and gadgets may be coming to an end. Some activities, such as using a DVR to record a TV show, or streaming movies or games, are more popular amongst women than men. Gents, has this happened to you? Take the poll, and see just how our favorite British girl geek handles tech stuff in the video after the jump.

I want to say that I hope that more girls don’t tend to be one with technology than boys because I feel that technology is something that only me and my male counterparts should have to share between ourselves, but I am completely wrong. I know it. The only thing that technology is missing are the women. I know that women do have a share of their blogs and sites running, but when looking at technology, you usually don’t see the women seeking their attention over there. (Unless, they are on G4, and mighty hot they are there.)

One other thing is that the more geek girls there are the better for us, the richer they are and the less we have to work to get the money that they make. So, on the hypocritical note that I’m about to make: GO GEEK GIRLS ! Yea.

Just hope these geek girls don’t turn into Mac fans, otherwise all of your money could be spent otherwise.

Some other people have made these comments:

” My wife made the statement that makes it clear why girls are getting into gadgets. “Technology is only good if it brings us closer.” I always thought it was good if you could say “Hold me beer and watch this.” Silly me. “

LG-KF510: Hotter than the Girls?

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The gorgeous colour screen is covered with tempered glass, and the 3-megapixel camera features image stabilisation, an LED flash and red-eye reduction. It’ll also play your MP3s and the whole lot’s just 10.9mm thick.

Lasers: 95mW (Green)

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Apparently, this type of laser has to be taken great use of because it comes with a Laser Glass protection glasses. I don’t think this would be the perfect thing to teach a chemistry class in a big lecture hall with. If mis-used, you could burn someone’s retina horribly.

Here is one more picture which shows you the beam of light that the laser produces when in use.

Apple Vs. Microsoft

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

If you are looking for the comparisons of the Mac operating system versus the Microsoft Operating systems, then you may have come to the wrong place, while there are many other innovative technological advances flying around here, the degradation of operating systems is not. Sorry :(
In higher hopes though, I might have a story that is going to get a little interest out of you considering you are either viewing this page through a Mac or an Microsoft operating system.

Taking a little personal role to this technology site, it might interest you to know that Macs are a lot more expensive than Microsoft.

Anyways :P here I was sitting in my college class learning about the latent learning of psychology, where suddenly the teachers as who in the class has a Mac. Almost half the kids raised their hands. Next, the teachers asked, who in the class would consider themselves in the lower class.

(here comes the good part) :P

Seven eighths of the people who had their hands raised for having Macs considered themselves to be in the lower class.

I thought to myself, what in the world is going on when kids in the lower class can afford to buy the most expensive laptops.

So, that just made me think, just because you pay more for your operating system doesn’t necessarily mean that you should be paying more for it. While I don’t want to get into the argument of why XP or VISTA are better than Macs, I should tell you that they are less expensive, and if you are looking for really extremely cheap, then maybe typing in the worlds “Asus EEE PC” into google would be a good start for you.

Levono Cell

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

From Mobility Watch:

Believe it or not Lenovo makes cellphones, too — they just happen to be crappy ones you probably didn’t pay much attention to since they were mostly targeted at the Chinese market. Like many before it, the company is getting out of the absurdly competitive handset market by selling its cellphone group to private equity firm Hony Capital (that’s Hony, not Sony) for a cool $100m

Indeed it is true, Lenovo does make cell phones now, and they are the 3rd largest company that makes both Cell phones and computers, according to the Wall Street Journal anyways. But, its completely true that the Lenovo company has no idea how to model all of their laptops and such. Same with the phone, the Lenovo has a distinct “I”M A LENOVO” model look.

Not to bash on the IMB-LENOVO company right now, but they just don’t make their laptops look good at all, and I don’t know how they are the top of the business line by doing this, but they are. (It’s probably because most big companies buy the high end laptops for their employees, which are actually worth the money) Lenovo just needs to take a step out there and make their stuff look good, or else, they will eventually go down.

As engadget says above, the reason why we don’t see the Lenovo phones here are because they are not really that big here, but the Hony Capital in China is more than willing to pay 100 million for those production line phones. Now, I haven’t been to China to see if that is true, nor am I planning to go see if its true, but I believe we can trust Engadget is not making this up to fool those of us in the US.

But just to make sure, if you do live in China, and see the Lenovo phones a lot, feel free to discuss it in the comment box.
And just like always comments are welcomed and appreciated :D

HD DVD Out - March 28 2008

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Go to the site to read it yourself: HD DVD

Here is what it says:

~~~
HD DVD Managing Members
March 28, 2008
The HD DVD Promotion Group was dissolved as of March 28, 2008,
and the website was closed accordingly.
Please access to DVD Forum for HD DVD formats, and
DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corporation for format books and its license.
Regarding the HD DVD products, please contact each selling agency directly.
Contact for the subject: info@hddvdprg.com
~~~

Ahh, its over. It’s finally over. Its about time to because HD DVD stopped making DVDs a while ago. The prices of Blue Ray Players are actually rising though, so right now is not the best time to start getting those, but if you need a back up HD DVD player, now is definitely the time. One thing we have to remember is that just because they stopped making HD DVDs, this is no reason to think that the old HD DVDs you bought are going to stop working. In fact, its quite the opposite, there is probably some guy out there who still wants his HD DVDs, maybe you have some movie that he doesnt. Could be that he’s willing to pay more for the scarce HD DVD. Scarcity Rule!!! Anyways, just think about this the next time you’re shopping and don’t see an aisle for HD DVDs.

Engadget:

Well, it’s no surprise that it was going to happen, but the HD DVD Promotion Group officially dissolved today, leaving behind nothing but this terse message directing us to individual “selling agencies.” And so, with literally nothing left of HD DVD, we formally close the sad chapter of consumer electronics history known as the HD Format War, remembering those times when HD DVD rode high, with low prices, more features and less restrictive rights management as its rallying cries, and the rantings of Michael Bay still only the delusional fantasies of a fool. May the resistance live on, and our PS3s always be reminded of a time when their ascension was not guaranteed. Red’s dead, baby.

Asus Eee PC Desktop?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

According to Hothardware
~~~
The scoop wire was running late tonight and these shots of Asus’ upcoming Eee Desktop made their way to our inbox just now, so we thought we’d give you the digital relay on the skinny… literally. Though it’s hard to get a sense of size here, this thing is obviously svelte. We don’t have firm details but since this is an Asus “Eee” product, we can assume it follows the same mantra of “Easy to Learn, Easy to Work, Easy to Play”. Maybe a beefed up Linux distro and application bundle? We’ll see…
We should caution you that these are not “official” pictures per se. In fact, we can’t really comment on the source of these pics except to say that they are indeed shots of an Asus Eee PC Desktop product that should be arriving to market some time in the next quarter or so.
~~~

Well, Asus has done quite the job coming to make the smallest computers. See now, Asus stands out more as a reliable and comfortable logo to me now .Asus should actually become the new Mac, with its popularity of course. Everyday, if you live the college life such as myself, you’ll start to notice that everyone is happily carrying around their overprice Mac products, but if Asus had somehow magically taken over Macs, schools would be saving over thousands of dollars, and be getting the same (or even more) usability of the products that they have purchased. Something to think about right?

Until then, PEOPLE, please pay for the overpriced Mac products that you buy, it’ll not only lose you money, but over time, you’ll convince yourself that Macs aren’t that bad. or something like that… :P

Spy Tie

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Well, take a look at the beautiful girls up there :!: Yes, quite spectacular are the phones which they hold as well as the packages they have. THe LG phones are cute as the girls that the phones are being held by, what a coincidence right? Nope, its all about the advertisement issue right there. See, the more hot girls you get to hold your phone smiling, the more you will sell. Quite similar to what Apple does right? (well, close enough… )

Stardust Dark Gray or Sunset Red :!: What a beautiful set of colors to choose from right? Well, maybe they should include a vibrant yellow, or even a Sky Blue Blue. :P Well, anyways, this phone is come to release in March of this year, although we are not sure the price range of the phone just yet. Regardless to say, we can all assume that the cost of the phone will be less than the cost of the iPhone, but definitely over $100.

These days, its not really that we need our phones to do things such as go on the internet, holds a ton of GB of songs, and play video, its just that we, rather, want them to do this kind of extra gadget-ry things.

So, as general advice, save your money for something that you do really need instead of things that you don’t really need, and be sure to keep in mind that never buy an Apple product no matter how much it seems like its a really good technology, because, to be honest, its not that far out there, in fact, there are so many companies that are better than Apple that you just have not heard of.

Please feel free to leave any comments if you have any questions as all, just like always, are welcomed and appreciated :D

Addidas & Samsung?

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Engadget:

“Well, would you look at this? Not quite a year after we got some pretty strong whiffs of the SGH-F110 fitness phone, the rumor has at long last become a reality. Heck, even the model name stayed the same. Slated to launch in the UK next month, the Samsung / Adidas F110 (miCoach) is out to take on the mighty Nike+ training system, and besides the obligatory heartbeat monitor and step counter, the handset also boasts a built-in MP3 player / FM tuner, two-inch LCD and a two-megapixel camera. Additionally, the currently unpriced phone will chime in when you’re not running hard enough, but feel free to drown it out with jams packed on the 1GB of internal memory.”

If you click on the read link on Engadgets Page here you will find that it is going to take you to Brand Republic, but you have to sign up for the account in order to view the content. Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to sign up for it just because I know that if I do, I might be risking my email from being spam free, not that its a big deal or anything, I encourage all of you to find out what it is in case they change it or anything else.

However, its about time that the athletic companies start joining with the high end technological companies. its about time that our sports became technologically oriented. Its bound to happen one day right? So why the sooner than later? Eventually, the world will come to an end, so I want to experience as much as possible before my death, that way I can die saying I have lived the life that completes everything.

Nevertheless, things aren’t always this way, so I assume that samsung will not completely join with Addidas for quite some time now, and for that day I will wait. I wait for the day that when a person asks another person what kind of phone he/she has, the person replies with the most honest sincerity on his/her face “addidas.”

Well, thats the brick here today at Wirless Tech Chat, I hope you enjoyed it and hope to see you next time. Please feel free to leave comments as all are welcomed and appreciated :D

Aircraft Capable of Five-Year Flight

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

As Engadget says:

DARPA’s certainly not lacking for ambitious projects these days, but it looks like it’s about to get another big one underway nonetheless, with it reportedly now close to awarding contracts for its Vulture program, which aims to build an unmanned aircraft capable of a non-stop five-year flight. As if that feat wasn’t enough, the aircraft will also have to be able to carry a 1,000 pound payload, pump out 5kW of onboard power, and keep up enough speed to withstand the winds it’ll encounter at 60,000 to 90,000 feet. Needless to say, that’s a long ways from becoming a reality, although it seems that the first phase of the project could soon be kicking off, with Vulture program manager Daniel Newman saying that they’ve had “at least one successful offeror,” and that they’re now close to doling out the first contracts. That initial phase will run for twelve months, and will require contractors to “define the objective system and design both full-scale and subscale demonstrators.” That’ll then be followed by phase two, which’ll run through 2012 with the goal of testing of a subscale demonstrator capable of flying for three months.

Hello to you all from Wireless Tech. I hope you’re having a good day today, and hopefully everything is going well. So, I bet you are asking what is the point of the Aircraft capable of the five-year flight? Well, my guess is as good as yours, I think the point here is to actually just have the ability to keep a plain 5 years in flight rather than the whole idea of what is the purpose. I mean, I think you’ve been in situations like this before.

For example, there is not a reason for everything that you do, somethings we just do so that we see that we can do them. Such as this, a guy made a aircraft capable of the five years. I don’t think its going to serve a human purpose, but perhaps someday it will be like a lower depth satellite, and perhaps actually come in to use. But maybe we should take into fact that the probability that some of these tech gadgets are actually used it probably less than 50 %.

Not claiming that this true is factual, but it just seems that it would be because its not like we use so many gadgets that our world is composed of 50 % technology.Anyways, thats what is cooking here at Wireless Tech chat. Hope to see you next time when we start talking about the ASUS EEE PC, ya know that ultra small portable PC with the size screen of about 7 to 10 inches? Yes… thats the one.

Padded Lamposts in London?

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

According to a recent report, human beings are becoming so incredibly stupid that they require cushioned lamppost bases so that when they run into them they don’t mess up their idiotic faces. Apparently, a study in the UK found that one in ten people actually managed to hurt themselves by walking into a post while peering down at their mobile phone screen. The mishaps — called “walking and texting” injuries — have spurred the charity Living Streets to launch the padded-post-pilot scheme in Brick Lane, London. It seems that if all goes well, there are plans to roll out the idiot-proof system in Birmingham, Manchester, and Stupidton.

[As Engadget Says, anyways...]

Here it is folks, the reason why we should not texting on our phones when we are doing other things, such as walking. It doesn’t even matter what we are doing, while we are texting, we should not be doing anything else proactive. Yes, you can text while you are sitting and waiting for a doctors appointment, or even when you are standing in line, but when you are driving your car, or walking down the street, texting is the last you want to be doing.

Support says that people are getting stupid as ever, yet we are designing the most technological things ever. Well, this just means that our technology is simply highlighting the ever-so-close nature of ourselves which is ERROR. But this is okay.I wonder why this is only happening in London, and not the US. I would like to see a padded lamp post here in the US, but I doubt that is going to happen because we Americans are much smarter than those Europeans.

Laugh out Loud! I was just kidding, there is not actually a reason why the Europeans are having trouble with this multi-tasking, but I do know that they must not multi-task as much as we do here in the US. THE US is basically the head Quarters for multi-tasking. If you are driving, you have to be doing something else while you are driving. Even Dimitri Martin, you should see his multi-tasking abilities. Well, thats it for now, hope you enjoyed the ever-so-interesting post here at Wireless Tech Chat, the place for all your needs. :P Almost…

Sony “in talks” with Microsoft about a Xbox 360 Blu-ray drive

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Engadget:

About 48 milliseconds after the format war was officially over, rumors started running rampant (again) about Blu-ray making its way over to Microsoft’s latest console. Now, however, those rumors actually have some legs — well, at least a leg. According to Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US president, “Sony is in talks with console rival Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360.” For whatever it’s worth, the exec also noted that it was having similar discussions with Apple, which has yet to even offer a Blu-ray option on any of its machines. Unfortunately, not a peep was uttered about potential launch dates and the like, but you can rest assured that we’ll be keeping an ear dangerously close to the ground.

Well, we have all lived in the time where Microsoft was on the side when HD DVDs were in existent, but now its not like how it was. There is a new leader in town, and its name has a big B in the front of it. So, whether the decision that the XBOX will now have a Blue Ray Disc player is not up to us, we are merely the consumers.

However, whoever does have to make this deicion must make a wise one, because if Toshiba decides to come back and make there DVDs revived, then Microsoft’s switching back and forth may sway their consumer product support. Well, just keep in mind on this one that Microsoft is just there for the ride when it comes to choosing the better High Definition player, whether it be Blue Ray Disc, or HD DVD.

My opinion in the matter is that XBOX not include Blue Ray players with the XBOX’s, because there are already HD DVD players for the XBOX, more accessories for the XBOX means less space that I have to keep all of the occupying accessories. Alright, it may not be a good cover story, but all in all, Blue Ray Disc players should just be with themselves stand-alone. I would much rather pay 150$ for a stand-alone HD Player than an XBOX player, mostly because I don’t really have an XBOX, or a PS3 for that matter.

Its alright for Sony to keep its PS3 in the Blue Ray Disc Format, because Sony is the compay that actually made the PS3, and over priced it as well, for the amount of games it has, its pretty decently over-priced. But worry not, in a few years, it will go down, and the PS3 will be almost as much the XBOX.

Silver Satin PS3 or Xbox 360 ?

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Announced in early February, both the Silver Satin PS3 and Xbox 360 Arcade are now on sale in Japan. The SS PS3 is a spec-for-spec equivalent of the existing black and white Japanese models. However, this is the first time the entry-level Xbox 360, already available outside of Nippon, makes an appearance on Japanese soil. Guess which one Japanese gamers are more likely to buy? Right, the Wii.

Well, the decision rests upon your shoulders: Do you want a PS3 or the XBOX 360? What difference will it make to you as a parent, only except for the fact that you will be saving almost 150+ when you buy the XBOBX vs buying the PS3. However, there are many things that the PS3 has that the XBOX is not capable of, for example, if your son already has a PSP, then he is able to use it as a remote to his PS3. Also, the PS3 has the ability to use multiple interface remotes such as the Wii.

Or do you want to altogether forget the two, and just go for the awesome Wii that every kid wants these days? (And also that they may be hard to find.) Well, regardless of the case, I think that buying them a video gaming system should be thrown out of the question, you should just buy them an awesome loaded computer, it might be a little bit more expensive, but alteast he might decide to read things over the internet.

But this is not what your child wants, he either wants the PS3 or the XBOX 360. Well, which one is it: Sony or Microsoft? Well, do yourself a favor and do not ask your child to what he wants, go to the store and just get him that XBOX 360, or even better yet, give him the money to get an XBOX 350, and ask him to earn up the rest if he wants the PS3, then, all problems are solved, and then you can start blaming him for not spending his money wisely when he has none left :D Good Parenting SKills merely begin to kick in when you buy the video game systems :!:

HD DVD

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Well, even the many of you know this already, I feel like I should definitely post upon here the successes of the HD DVD (Or shall we say failures :P ) Regardless, its over, HD DVD is not going to be making anymore HD DVD’s for any major or small movie company anymore, although, you can still buy the HD DVD’s for a smaller price than before.

One mistake that HD DVD did was let Warner Bros. Company let go. They should’ve bribed them with so much more money than Blue-Ray, because at least then, they were in the competition with one of the most largest movie making companies ever. However, lets just let bygones be bygones and accept the fact that Blue Ray here is the winner, and now all of us in the future will be buying Blue Ray players instead of the HD DVD players.

Personally, I didn’t really find a big difference between the two, but that is simply because I didn’t get to experience both of them, I did watch a few HD DVDs, but not a single Blue Ray Disc. But don’t worry, as soon as I get that PS3, I will completely be on top of it.
As for now, this is all at Wireless Tech Chat.

By the way, sorry for the poor introduction, but I am Perceval, and I will be the current writer for this blog . With that in mind, if there is anything that you would like to know, I would be more than happy to answer, please leave a comment because just as always all comments are appreciated and welcomed :D
