Have You Noticed More Girls Playing With Your Gadget Recently?

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Gizmodo:

A new report from Solutions Research Group hints that the male-dominated era of technology and gadgets may be coming to an end. Some activities, such as using a DVR to record a TV show, or streaming movies or games, are more popular amongst women than men. Gents, has this happened to you? Take the poll, and see just how our favorite British girl geek handles tech stuff in the video after the jump.

I want to say that I hope that more girls don’t tend to be one with technology than boys because I feel that technology is something that only me and my male counterparts should have to share between ourselves, but I am completely wrong. I know it. The only thing that technology is missing are the women. I know that women do have a share of their blogs and sites running, but when looking at technology, you usually don’t see the women seeking their attention over there. (Unless, they are on G4, and mighty hot they are there.)

One other thing is that the more geek girls there are the better for us, the richer they are and the less we have to work to get the money that they make. So, on the hypocritical note that I’m about to make: GO GEEK GIRLS ! Yea.

Just hope these geek girls don’t turn into Mac fans, otherwise all of your money could be spent otherwise.

Some other people have made these comments:

” My wife made the statement that makes it clear why girls are getting into gadgets. “Technology is only good if it brings us closer.” I always thought it was good if you could say “Hold me beer and watch this.” Silly me. ”

Ultrathin Netbook showcased

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Well, it sure is not the HP that I’ve been wanting, but it does seem to be that they will be keeping the Atom under the hood. Take a peek…

“From what we’ve seen thus far, Intel’s Netbook isn’t exactly the prettiest piece of kit. But apparently, the unit we’ve been shown looks nothing like the Netbooks of the future. At the Intel Developer Forum in Shanghai, the company was showing off an upcoming design that looked awfully thin (and awfully attractive). As it stands, all we truly know about the lappie was that Linux was under the hood and the Atom will likely power things whenever it escapes the trade show floor and ships en masse. Still, if the price is right, we can certainly see this slab being desired by more than just schoolkids in various corners of the world.”

PS3 Laptop

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

So, here it is the PS3 laptop, its not as good as that XBOX 360 laptop shown below, but it still has its perks and jerks. Better yet, if you want the PS3 action in a laptop, you might want to head over to engadget now, and leave a comment to try to win a PS3 laptop. Chances that you will win are like 3.2 %, but hey, if its free, its worth nearly 5 minutes of your time anyways.

Here are some pictures of the PS3 Laptop in action:

So, while the ingenius Ben Heck has made another ordeal out of another gaming console, I don’t believe he will try to get one for the Wii, and if it does, then good for him. All that will be left after that is the SNES that I have in my closet.

Pioneer Sneakers Light Your Way With Built-In Headlights

Monday, May 12th, 2008

However unnecessary this shoe comes to be , it is, nevertheless, a gadget worth discussing. I mean, think of all of those nights that you are trying to sneak out of the room without waking up your wife, you run into things that you’re children left on the ground, and think about all of the risks you have of falling and hurting yourself to get away :!:

Well, worry no more, with the headlight shoes, you can see the floor without hurting yourself, or even waking up your lovely wife in bed. [ unless she's light sensitive... ] A gadget, however, is always a gadget, I did hope that they would come in better styles of these shoes. It seems like something you would wear a century ago. Besides the style though, everything else seems to be completely intact.

Anyways, if any of you actually get these shoes, I would like to know how the deal goes. Thats the gadget today and I hope you’ve slightly enjoyed it as it wasn’t extremely worth of enjoyment. Regardless, I hope to see you next time when we see if there is a way to get free Porn accounts. No… no… just kidding

“Designers Feijun Chen & Bin Zhao clearly were reading Skymall when they dreamed up these “Pioneer” sneakers with built-in recharging headlights. They’ve got a battery inside which charges on each step, using some mysterious tech that doesn’t look piezoelectric. Apparently this can power the LEDs in the front for a full 12 hours. So you can, you know: run in the dark down dim-lit streets, or something. Maybe they’d be handy for doggy-do detection? Just a concept, for now.”

Toshiba Packs the Punch With Satellite P300 series

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

So maybe this is not the HP that you wanted, but it is a Toshiba, something that you can definitely rely on. With Toshiba being a consumer product, you’ll absolutely be glad to hear that the3GB of RAM, and 320 GB Hard drive is something that you can carry with you when traveling on the ever-so-long meetings from one place to another. With a hefty low price of 1k, this P300 series packs more than just your average Hawaiian punch.

According to Engadget:

“We spotted this P300 refresh last week, but Toshiba was kind enough today to bring some actual SKUs out in the open. The 17-inch laptops pack a decent punch for the price, but the 1440 x 900 screens aren’t exactly going to win any points. For $1,050 you can get an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550-powered machine, with 3GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, DVD burner, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 256MB graphics, a built-in webcam and so forth. Lop off a hundie and you can nab an AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-62 processor, 2GB of RAM, 250GB of HDD and a Radeon X1250 graphics.”

HP 2133 Mini-Note PC

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Yes, its finally come out! Too bad I’ve already bought myself another laptop, but I suppose I could have gotten this for the decent price that its selling for. Apparently, the HP has the keyboard at a 92 % the size of a normal keyboard, which is not so bad since the keyboard reaches from one side of the laptop to the either, leaving no room for unwanted emptiness near the sides.

Along with the 8.9 inch screen, the least expensive HP has a 512 RAM, and compared to the EEE PC, this thing is actually a lottery winner. Well, that is if you have the money to buy it.

“Just in case you’ve been burying your face in those glowing reviews of HP’s latest UMPC, here’s a quick heads-up to inform you that the 2133 Mini-Note PC is actually available to order. As of this very moment, prospective buyers can select a unit of their own at HP’s website, and with five models ranging from $499 to $849, we’re sure there’s a Mini-Note for you in there somewhere.”

XCM Chrome Xbox 360, From Drab to Fab(ricated)

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Yes, I love the mods that people do to the XBOX’s, first the Halo XBOX Mod, where this guy shoved an entire XBOX into a laptop with the Halo theme. It was entirely beautiful, and now this… Its, like the author of Gizmodo says, the rims to have on your Caddy Escalade. Well, almost. I don’t know if its worth the extra 240$ though. I mean, an XBOX is already 250, and then spending another 240 on it just puts me over the bridge.

While I can’t afford this equipment, I can say that I indubitably enjoy the efforts someone made to making the XBOX chrome-ified.

I, as of right now, do not have an XBOX, but planning on getting one the summer to waste the days away, like any teenager out there. I’m not sure if I should just go ahead and get the Elite, or stay with the original with chances of getting the “Red Ring of Death.” I dont know :!:

Anyways, see you next time here at Gadget Dose!

‘We can’t speak for everyone here, but our home theater just isn’t looking tacky enough lately. Luckily there’s this XCM-branded chrome Xbox 360 case replacement for HDMI-enabled models to help us reach our geek quota. Running about $60, a set of four will only set you back $240—a nominal cost to have the most unique, sought-after rims on the block. Unfortunately, the hard drive cover isn’t included, nor is a new skin for your controller. Those will set you back $25 and $30, respectively, meaning that this little joke gets expensive real quick.’

NVIDIA Motorcycle Casemod is the Fastest Computer On Two Wheels, Kinda

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Finding a good and reliable case for your computer is a hard thing to do. Not having found a case myself, I don’t know what companies to trust in and which ones are the reliable ones. I also don’t want to pay too much for the case. However, the Motorcycle casemod is definitely one that comes into my mind as reliable and FAST. NOT. But, its definitely fast :!:
“There are roadwarriors with their ultraportables and then there’s master modder Dennis Ilyin, who took computing on the go literally with this ambitious motorcycle casemod. While the two-wheeled computing wonder lacks an engine, it more than makes up for it with massive LED-lit water tanks and what’s sure to be ample processing power. The compu-bike was part of an NVIDIA-sponsored modding contest and actually came in second to this green thing. Fair? Unfair? Take a look at additional pics after the jump and you tell us.”

Levono Cell

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

From Mobility Watch:

Believe it or not Lenovo makes cellphones, too — they just happen to be crappy ones you probably didn’t pay much attention to since they were mostly targeted at the Chinese market. Like many before it, the company is getting out of the absurdly competitive handset market by selling its cellphone group to private equity firm Hony Capital (that’s Hony, not Sony) for a cool $100m

Indeed it is true, Lenovo does make cell phones now, and they are the 3rd largest company that makes both Cell phones and computers, according to the Wall Street Journal anyways. But, its completely true that the Lenovo company has no idea how to model all of their laptops and such. Same with the phone, the Lenovo has a distinct “I”M A LENOVO” model look.

Not to bash on the IMB-LENOVO company right now, but they just don’t make their laptops look good at all, and I don’t know how they are the top of the business line by doing this, but they are. (It’s probably because most big companies buy the high end laptops for their employees, which are actually worth the money) Lenovo just needs to take a step out there and make their stuff look good, or else, they will eventually go down.

As engadget says above, the reason why we don’t see the Lenovo phones here are because they are not really that big here, but the Hony Capital in China is more than willing to pay 100 million for those production line phones. Now, I haven’t been to China to see if that is true, nor am I planning to go see if its true, but I believe we can trust Engadget is not making this up to fool those of us in the US.

But just to make sure, if you do live in China, and see the Lenovo phones a lot, feel free to discuss it in the comment box.
And just like always comments are welcomed and appreciated :D

Apple Vs. Microsoft

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

If you are looking for the comparisons of the Mac operating system versus the Microsoft Operating systems, then you may have come to the wrong place, while there are many other innovative technological advances flying around here, the degradation of operating systems is not. Sorry :(
In higher hopes though, I might have a story that is going to get a little interest out of you considering you are either viewing this page through a Mac or an Microsoft operating system.

Taking a little personal role to this technology site, it might interest you to know that Macs are a lot more expensive than Microsoft.

Anyways :P here I was sitting in my college class learning about the latent learning of psychology, where suddenly the teachers as who in the class has a Mac. Almost half the kids raised their hands. Next, the teachers asked, who in the class would consider themselves in the lower class.

(here comes the good part) :P

Seven eighths of the people who had their hands raised for having Macs considered themselves to be in the lower class.

I thought to myself, what in the world is going on when kids in the lower class can afford to buy the most expensive laptops.

So, that just made me think, just because you pay more for your operating system doesn’t necessarily mean that you should be paying more for it. While I don’t want to get into the argument of why XP or VISTA are better than Macs, I should tell you that they are less expensive, and if you are looking for really extremely cheap, then maybe typing in the worlds “Asus EEE PC” into google would be a good start for you.

Lasers: 95mW (Green)

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Apparently, this type of laser has to be taken great use of because it comes with a Laser Glass protection glasses. I don’t think this would be the perfect thing to teach a chemistry class in a big lecture hall with. If mis-used, you could burn someone’s retina horribly.

Here is one more picture which shows you the beam of light that the laser produces when in use.

LG-KF510: Hotter than the Girls?

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The gorgeous colour screen is covered with tempered glass, and the 3-megapixel camera features image stabilisation, an LED flash and red-eye reduction. It’ll also play your MP3s and the whole lot’s just 10.9mm thick.
